Background
Nestled amongst the rugged mountains of Guatemala’s Santa Rosa region, this coffee tells the story of a community coming together in pursuit of quality. Around 250 smallholder farmers carefully harvest ripe coffee cherries between December and February, selecting only the best fruit before delivering it to El Boquerón Wet Mill. By bringing their harvest in a single delivery, farmers help ensure consistency and preserve the vibrant character of the crop.
At the mill, the cherries are sorted before being spread across sun-drenched patios, where they slowly dry in their fruit until reaching the perfect moisture content. This traditional natural process allows the coffee to develop layers of sweetness and complexity, creating a cup that is both lively and expressive.
While this particular lot is not Rainforest Alliance certified, it is processed at the Rainforest Alliance certified El Boquerón Mill, whose commitment to sustainable practices has helped deliver lasting benefits to the region, including the installation of a local water treatment facility. The result is a coffee that not only reflects the dedication of its producers but also the unique environment in which it was grown, bursting with notes of strawberry, cherry, orange, tropical fruit, and smooth caramel sweetness.
